Something is broken

Hardware quirks are the most useful thing anyone sends.

  • A display arrangement that confuses it, a music app it does not recognise, a file the shelf will not convert, an island that will not close
  • Settings ▸ About ▸ Export Logs… writes one file with everything needed to look into it — also in the menu bar menu, and in the menu a right-click on the island puts up
  • Events only: no track titles, no file names, no calendar events, no city. Safe to send

Something could be better

Discovery is an open design question here, not a solved one.

  • A source the island should know about, a gesture that should exist, a setting that should not
  • Ideas get argued about in the open, which is how the good ones survive

Check the FAQs first

Most of what gets reported is one of a handful of things: an island that never appears, a blank weather page, an empty calendar, a media key the island does not name, Apple’s HUD still showing. They all have answers.

Isleta has no Dock icon and no window. It lives in the menu bar: quick actions for whatever is on the island, Open Isleta Settings, Open Setup Guide, Export Logs… and Quit Isleta. If you have hidden that icon, Quit and Open Setup Guide are in Settings ▸ About too.
